Curriculum

Each child is a unique individual with different social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs. We provide a stimulating and nurturing learning environment that contributes to the overall development of each child. Our curriculum is formulated to target the different development stages for ages from 3 to 12 years old. The goals and focus of our program include the following subjects. Parents are welcome to discuss the complete curriculum with CLA staff.

Language
Language development is an important aspect of learning. Language Arts include listening, speaking, writing and reading. The children learn to read and write both the uppercase and lowercase forms of the letter, learn the sound the letter makes and identify words beginning with that letter. After the children learn a few letters, they begin blending those letters together to read simple words. The children are taught and encouraged to listen to short stories and bits of information shared by their classmates.

Math
Children learn and recognize the numerals and quantities. The children develop skills for counting and writing basic numbers. They also learn the concepts of matching, ordering, same and different, and large and small.

Science
The best way for children to learn about their world is through hands-on experiences. We provide various on-going activities that allow children to participate in taking care of living creatures, appreciate nature and animals, and learn about how things work.

Music and Movement
Music and movement activities enhance the fine and gross motor development of children. Children learn music and songs while they interact by clapping, hopping, dancing, marching.

Art
Children are taught to use art materials appropriately, to have respect for the work of others, and to clean up when they are done with their projects. Children work on art projects using a number of different materials. Each month there is a new theme to help children have a broad experience across a number of subjects.

Sensory
Sensory activities help your child with concentration, organization, hand-eye coordination and independence. Our program help children learn about their senses by using them and talking about what they are experiencing.

Naptime

Each day at noon, all classrooms from preschool to kindergarten will have nap time. Naptime is required by law.
